Peace, Punch, and Petals: Inside the Hill & Harbor Social at 310 Blackstone Blvd | The Wandering Pour

There's something special about stepping into a home that's still becoming itself.

The walls are up, the light is finding its way through new windows, and the space is just waiting to be filled with people, laughter, and the clink of glassware. That was the feeling at Hill & Harbor's newest project at 310 Blackstone Blvd in Providence, Rhode Island, the setting for this summer's Hill & Harbor Summer Social, and the backdrop for one of the most personal signature cocktail experiences we've had the privilege of building.

When Hill & Harbor invited The Wandering Pour to design the bar experience for this celebration, we didn't want to just show up with a menu. We wanted to build something that belonged to this house, this builder, and this state. A bar program that felt less like a rental and more like part of the architecture.

A Home Worth Toasting To

Hill & Harbor has built a reputation across Rhode Island for homes that feel warm before a single piece of furniture arrives in them, spaces designed with intention, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for where they sit on the map. The Summer Social at 310 Blackstone Blvd was a chance to introduce this newest project to the community that will one day fill it with their own stories, and to do it with the kind of hospitality that makes people feel instantly at ease.

For an event like this, the bar isn't just a beverage station. It's a gathering point, the place where conversations start and where the story of the evening gets told one pour at a time. We knew our role was to help set that tone from the very first sip.

Building Two Cocktails From the Ground Up

Every signature cocktail we create starts with a question: what is this event actually about? For the Hill & Harbor Summer Social, the answer was layered. It was about a builder known for craftsmanship. It was about a home on Blackstone Boulevard, one of Providence's most storied streets. And it was about Rhode Island itself, the Ocean State, with its coastline, its gardens, and its quiet, understated elegance.

We landed on two drinks that speak to both sides of that story, one grounded and warm, one soft and floral, both built around balance rather than sweetness for sweetness's sake.

The Blackstone Bourbon Punch

Named for the boulevard the home calls its own, the Blackstone Bourbon Punch is a nod to craftsmanship and warmth, built on a base of bourbon and layered with citrus and a touch of elderflower and sweetness to keep it approachable rather than heavy. We wanted this drink to feel like the wood and stone of the home itself: rich, grounded, and built to last.

The finishing touch was intentional down to the last detail. Each glass was garnished with a dehydrated lemon wheel and a fresh viola, Rhode Island's official state flower. It's a small detail, but it's the kind of small detail that turns a cocktail into a story, and a guest holding that glass into someone who feels like they're experiencing something made just for that address, in that state, on that night.

Chateau Garden of Grace

If the Blackstone Bourbon Punch is the home's structure, Chateau Garden of Grace is its garden. This cocktail leaned into floral notes and a delicate, herbal balance, designed to be light on the palate without losing depth. We wanted a drink that felt like walking through a garden at golden hour, soft, fragrant, and unhurried.

We garnished each glass with a rose bud and a sprig of fresh thyme, a pairing that brought both romance and grounding to the presentation. Guests didn't just drink this cocktail, they noticed it, held it up to admire it, and asked what was in their glass before they'd even taken the first sip. That reaction is exactly what we're chasing every time we build a menu from scratch.

Service Designed to Feel Effortless

For the Summer Social, we brought Penny, our 6 foot wooden bar, to serve as the anchor of the evening. Two of our bartenders were stationed behind Penny, crafting each cocktail to order, while two more circulated through the home with trays of passed drinks, making sure no guest ever had to leave a conversation to find their next pour.

That combination, a beautifully staffed stationary bar paired with attentive passed service, is something we lean on for events where the space itself is part of the story. It let guests explore every room of the home at their own pace while still feeling cared for at every turn. That's the kind of quiet, seamless hospitality we build every event around: present without being in the way, polished without being stiff.

A Celebration Built by a Community of Vendors

No event like this comes together through one company alone. The Hill & Harbor Summer Social was a true showcase of Rhode Island's event talent, and we were honored to work alongside a team that brought their own craft to every corner of the home.

Coastal Blooms filled the space with florals that echoed the same garden inspired palette woven into our cocktail menu. Peak Event Services provided the glassware and rental pieces that elevated the presentation of every pour. 401 Oyster brought a raw bar experience that spoke directly to Rhode Island's coastal identity. Society Coffee kept the energy warm with a coffee program guests lingered over. Charcuterie Kreations and Cravings RI filled the tables with the kind of spread that makes people slow down and stay a while. Samia Lynn Illustration added a personal, artistic touch that guests will remember long after the event ended. GYE Piano set the soundtrack for the evening, live music drifting through the rooms. And Providence Valet made sure every guest's arrival and departure felt as smooth as the rest of the night.

Being part of a vendor team like this is one of the true joys of this work. Every company brought their own expertise to the table, and together, we built something none of us could have created alone.
